Understanding the term Clothing, Garments & Apparel

Clothing: Clothing is what someone wears to cover their body. Clothing is defined as the article made of fabric, which is used to cover our bodies, keeps them warm or protects them from sun, insects, sharp rocks and thorns and other hazards. Example: Winter clothing, Summer clothing etc.

Garment: A garment is a piece of clothing. Example: T-Shirt, Trousers, Polo shirt etc.

Apparel: The word “Apparel” is originated from the Latin word “apparare” meaning to “prepare, make ready” or “to put things together”. Apparel refers to collection of clothing means it refers more than one piece. It also includes things like nametags, jewelry or other stuff you wear. Example: School outfit, Office outfit etc.

Apparel = Clothing (more than one garment) + Fashion accessories
